Built on Sava’s old river bed, plagued by potential flooding and unstable soil.

With its thoughtful design, Blok N adds high quality social housing to the heritage-listed Jeruzalem neighbourhood. The stepped blocks are wrapped in continuous white balconies punctuated by an irregular rhythm to extend the living spaces, to relate to the surrounding parks and post-war housing and to define the identity.

The project was winner of the call for project “Réinventer Paris” launched by the city of Paris in 2017, located at the edge of the “Petite Ceinture”, a former railway that surrounds Paris.

A ‘big-box’ protective enclosure is installed over Mackintosh’s residential masterpiece Hill House, whilst it is slowly brought back to life from almost 120 years of weathering and decay. Throughout the extensive process, ‘the box’ also allows public to continue visiting the house and experience a radical and unique conservation-in-action project.

A new energy surges through this former Powerhouse, in a truly immersive and unconventional space. This iconic brick and steel frame structure, of cathedral-like proportions, was originally constructed in 1946 as Guinness’s Power House.
