    The newly built office building shows a rational use of funds – considering the advanced technical requirements, the construction costs were rational but the maintenance expenses are remarkably low.

    The new Province Headquarters are conceived as a free-standing, compact construction combining congress functions in the entrance pavilion and office programs in the crossing tower.     Museum Fort Vechten focuses on the history of the UNESCO listed 19th c. New Dutch Water Line, and is build within one of the fortresses. The defence mechanism lay in intentionally flooding land during times of war. As one of its key elements a 50 meter long maquette in the courtyard, and as part of the architecture, can be flooded to demonstrate that system.

In 1995 a significant fire burnt down most of the building and it remained a ruin until 2012, when the municipality initiated a project for the regeneration of the building, with a new flexible multipurpose hall.

    Lazika Municipality is a rectilinear experiment in the vertical displacement of solid mass. The ambition of this project was to make a building as a sculpture made out of one material. The school brings together both vocational an academic subjects under one roof, as well as providing after-hours facilities for the local community. The building is organized around a large wooden atrium and with teaching room along the perimeter to maximize daylight.
