MODENATIE is accommodated today in a building that fully celebrates urban life in Antwerp. It did so already at the time of its construction, when Paris still set the tone for fashionable architecture. Since 2002, it houses the MOMU or Fashion Museum, the Antwerp Fashion Academy and the offices of the Flanders Fashion Institute.

Our eyes need a few minutes to adjust to the contrast between the sun outside and the regulated interior light. On entering these ancient, geometrically primitive constructions, it feels as we are entering a cave, as if we are walking into a space lit up for the first time.

The design of the library was based on the winning entry of a competition held in 2002. The tight plot is located next to a medieval stone church. The new library building is harmoniously integrated into the surrounding cultural campus area.

The church and the town hall are the only public buildings of Riudaura, a small village with a population under 500 near Olot. The town wanted to enlarge its public realm with a new space for culture, leisure and sports activities. The site chosen was one at the entrance of the town, in a sunken piece of land, with views of the church tower.

The Monastery of San Benito sums up the history of the Benedictine order in Valladolid. Founded in 1390, in the old Alcázar, it increased its prestige for five centuries until Mendizábal’s confiscation.

Holland creates Space’: the theme for the Netherlands Pavilion at the 2000 World Expo in Hanover was to showcase a country making the most out of limited space. Six stacked Dutch landscapes form an independent eco-system communicating cultural sustainability: progressive thinking and contemporary culture are combined with traditional values.
