The Fire Station provides emergency response for fire fighting, river rescue, car crashes and training. A strong form wrapped in zinc is folded – origami-like – to enclose a drill yard for training. It creates its own artificial landscape, a new geography of enclosure, to create a warm environment for human activity – an image of care in a small city.

The new club house for TC IJburg combines the clubhouse typology with that of a sports tribune or grandstand, perfectly angled for centre-court viewing. The roof folds up to form this informal spectator platform, which can seat up to 200 people. The aim of the club is to be as accessible as possible, not a private club but a meeting place for young and old.

The main idea of the concept was to create an uptodate market, which preserves the scale and the athmosphere of the old demolished market. The old market stood nearby the new marketbuilding. After demolishing it we created there a multifunctional square. The building itself is an open hall with natural ventillation and illumination.

The new entrance building into Punkva Caves has replaced an old unsuitable structure. The characteristic feature of the building is a gently bent roof, which must withstand boulder falls from the surrounding limestone cliff. The front sheltered entry façade is concluded by a footbridge, accessing the magical entrance into the rock massif.

The long horizontal lines of a ‘floating in the sea’ fluid form create a strong corporate image in the city scape, adapt to the urban scale and set up a dialogue with the intense natural light of the Athenian sky.

Baltyk gives a dynamic look from every angle. A linear building with a concrete, entirely glass-fronted façade and clearly exposed aggregate grain, sets it apart from its surroundings and is an example of a balanced combination of “old” and “new” architecture in the context of the neighbouring historic building of Concordia Design and the Haven.
