Rijnstraat 8, the former VROM building designed by Jan Hoogstad in 1992, has been given a second life and a new identity within the government district of The Hague. OMA has renewed the building, turning it into a multi-ministry campus in which sustainability, flexibility, health and transparency come together.

All the rehabilitation services for people with mental illness are grouped in this building composed by the repetition of a 6m wide spatial module. A new Flemish government building stands on a prominent site along the Canal in Brussels. The Herman Teirlinck building is six storeys high and, as a result, corresponds to the surrounding nineteenth-century industrial buildings on the Thurn & Taxis site. Its robust volume is enriched with a modest 60m tower that claims its place in the Brussels skyline.

An ensemble of two buildings facing each other in a quiet street. One a bank, the other one an ordinary office building with restaurant, next to busy 5-street-crossing in a very in-

The subject of this project is a restoration of a summer house built in 1885 by the architect Antoni Gaudí. The house was extended, firstly in 1925, by Joan Baptista Serra de Martínez, and it was unfortunately modified and extended again in 1965. Nowadays, the house has become into a museum. In 2005, Casa Vicens was declared World Heritage by the UNESCO.

Gironella is a municipality divided by the river Llobregat. Its historical centre is at the top of a hill, 20 metres above the river, and the modern part is situated on the opposite side. The proposal is to insert a lift to facilitate access to the historical centre and to encourage interconnection between the two sides avoiding social exclusion.

The school is built on a steeply sloping site. It is designed like a hill-town, with lanes and terraced courts connecting new and old together. New buildings work their way down the hill, passing between existing historic buildings. An external route negotiates the 18m drop in site levels, connecting orchard, courtyards, classrooms, and playgrounds.
