The Thesis Vertical Farmstead has as its purpose an architectural project, both in its conceptual and functional design, that responds to a demographic and environmental problem, proposing hidroponic agricultural production within a vertical tower that promotes the improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants of Guadalajara.
The project seeks a sustainable integration of architecture with the context, allowing the buildings to be generators of food resources with a new typology in the logistics of food production and supply, and an improvement for the environment. This series of sustainable elements goes from the use of orientation of the tower as a condition of design, to the use of sustaintable technologies to generate resources. These elements are in the center of the development of the thesis project "Vertical Farmstead". including food supply and production within the city, as a new typology in the food industry. The architectural proposal, in addition to including all the sustainable elements and the general architectural program of the project, seeks to propose a new consumption system and generate a social conscience through architecture and food production in the city, relying on the mixed use of spaces, seeking to generate an awareness with nature, allowing the vegetation, in its different presentations within the project, to be oriented as the main axis in the activities of the program, seeking in the short term a direct relationship with nature and in the long term creation of a practice and tradition both in the relationship of spaces and in the own production of food within the city, analyzing the current situation of society in relation to architecture, such as the incoherence between humans and nature, the rejection of user by space, the mental relationships that are generated in the perception of the world, the separation between architecture and social context, the collaborative process between the architect and the user, on the whole complexity created by people to lead to the appropriation of space. Architecture as a space promoter, must allow a project to react as an urban archetype, and allow the acceptance of society through formal language, presenting itself as a vertical element due to its architectural program and justification of the context, in addition it must generate productive environments that create a community through the uses and relationship with the human scale.
