Unlimited Urban Cell

A complex network, diagram of installation structures designed to regenerate urban spaces. The construction is modular and it starts with a single cell adjusted to human behaviour in space (based on an empty cube of 35x35 cm),through serial repetition it creates infinite variety, maximum flexibility of the system, allowing the user a complete freedom.

What is the most lacking element from the contemporary architecture is presence of the elements capable of connecting parts, constructing a story that would unite buildings, offering new landscapes capable of fitting new reality in. Approach of architecture inevitably have longer reaction time than speed of design is, so it might be useful to rethink the new layout dimension, placing it in between architecture and design. Installation infrastructure does not mean building new volumes, but introducing a preferable point of view that effects/directs the vision. Close interaction between installation, environment and user makes it a good tool for public space design, which is no longer mono-functional. The problem of empty spaces, urban gaps and poorly or abandoned public spaces is a problem that is becoming more and more important. The Unlimited Urban Cell project represents an attempt to create a network of on-demand structure with different methods of use and a possibility of infinite development, localization in different parts of the city (squares, streets, alleys) for regeneration of empty spaces and urban gaps, work as in micro as in macro scale. Assembling the cubes of 35x35 cm in three dimensions grid we move from the classic pillar-staircase-roof system, to a free system, where each level functions as cover-scale-support, as elements with different consistencies -transparent, matt, rigid, fluid, allowing the user complete freedom, spontaneous behaviour and therefore natural, making him the intrinsic part of all system. This system gives complete flexibility development, allowing the user to "dig" the grid in all three dimensions. Through the determination of simple rules and parameters and geometric operation it is possible to design both on micro and macro scale different projects: from landscape to architecture and design. Using of abac of some assemble components, it is possible to make a change from digital world to the real one. Thanks to the low definition of the module you can get urban installations for infinite development and for any urban necessity (12 types defined).
