The topic of project summarizes all the clarifications about the benefits and disadvantages of this architectural design. The aim of the project is to serve as a basic foundation designing and building underground homes as a new form of residence. The Project focuses on the new type of housing category in slope terrain so as to enable relief.
The concept for the design of the underground house is based on the layout of the terrain, mainly on steep terrains. The design of the basement with an open facade according to the extent of the terrain would enable an ideal entrance creating the feeling of framing with nature. Depending on the construction site and terrain analysis, the underground houses are divided into the following categories: - Underground house - Underground house with new atrium - Underground house with a free facade - Underground house with two free facades - Combined house All types of underground houses find their application based on field selection. From the draft proposal applied according to the research conducted on the topic of underground houses, we have found that the underground house as a new form of housing benefits in: • Mitigation of seasonal and daily temperature fluctuations due to high thermal inertia of the soil • Reduces overheating due to the low surface area exposed to sunlight. • Protected from cold winter winds because the building is framed with soil • They achieve a better integration into the environment by protecting the degradation of the environment The underground house offers comfort in the residential function, and is considered as an efficient house which stores the energy quite well, helps to maintain the degradation of the environment, and provides the basic living conditions The underground house offers comfort in the residential function, and is considered as an efficient house which stores the energy quite well, helps to maintain the degradation of the environment, and provides the basic living conditions. Underground houses are not considered applicable in urban built-up areas due to underground infrastructure such as (water supply, sewerage, electricity, etc.). The experiences of designing an underground house allows us to understand how we can transfer our cities to “ecological cities” with the resources offered to us by architectural and engineering studies. A sustainable architecture would be a good solution to the problems that are growing all over the globe.
