The proposed project aims to revive the historic Tuareg caravan routes that facilitated vital cultural and economic exchanges in the Sahara. Through the construction of a linear caravanserai, the project will pay tribute to these important trade routes while tackling the current issues that the inhabitants of Arlit, Niger, confront. Amid declining economic opportunities, particularly for the youth, the project seeks to celebrate the Tuareg heritage and stimulate economic potential through the revival of traditional crafts like fabric dyeing, metallurgy, jewellery making, and desert farming. The implementation of electrostatic dust barriers is a key component of this endeavour to address airborne radioactive dust produced by mining operations. This cutting-edge solar-powered technology improves agricultural conditions by capturing dangerous particles and reducing air and soil pollution. The project also incorporates Syntropic farming techniques, focusing on soil regeneration and biodiversity enhancement to combat desertification and promote ecological resilience. Additionally, the initiative places great emphasis on engaging the local community in preserving their nomadic culture while fostering new economic opportunities through tourism and cultural exchange. Understanding the health hazards associated with uranium mining, the initiative puts human safety first by reducing pollution exposure and resolving water scarcity through efficient water harvesting techniques. Overall, it represents a holistic approach that merges cultural heritage preservation with environmental sustainability and economic growth for the residents of Arlit.
