This project create better connections between the city and their habitants. By enhancing urban spaces, we can facilitate daily life and promote community involvement through shared spaces. This project aims to build a central structure that serves as a focal point for the community, bringing people together and creating a stronger sense of belonging.
The main focus of this project is to create a new neighborhood with the aim of providing new housing for the population of Santos Reis and removing substandard settlements (slums and illegal housing) to provide spaces that stimulate well-being and social reintegration. The proposal considers the key characteristics of Brazilian homes in Santos Reis, using common materials like masonry and concrete. The layout of the neighborhood includes passages that provide convenient connections to its users and interior patios for various uses. The 478 new homes are divided into four distinct typologies, with the common characteristic of having no windows facing the street and a courtyard providing the source of lighting. Each home has a common access gate leading to an intermediate space, which can be used as a garage, outdoor space, or future business. The layout of the homes prioritizes the living room and kitchen, which are the most commonly used spaces. This project attempts to respond to the primary needs of the community, using the necessary resources to provide a functional neighborhood and serve as a point of community engagement.
