Developed in an academic context, this project wants to be a meeting point for the exchange of pedagogical knowledge and the constant training of teachers; the main challenge of this project was construct a building without removing public areas, resulting in this avant-garde proposal in a friendly dialogue with the environment.
The objective of this proposal is to provide the University Center with the facilities to carry out its mission of permanent teacher training in an evolutionary environment that facilitates all current and future dynamics in its training and internationalization. The fundamental principle that configures the building's program is the conservation of public areas, proposing a relationship of blurred boundaries between these areas and the product being integrated in the context in a subtle way. The emancipation of the concept of ground floor becomes the ruling element in the structural approach of the proposal making clear the use of an exoskeleton. The 1944 sqmt of construction are distributed over 2 floors. On the ground floor there is a park of removable hanging chairs for the student community. On the first floor, the areas with the highest capacity are located: the administration, the three main classrooms, coffee shop and the restrooms. On the second floor the most informal areas are conceived: multipurpose rooms, binary work computer lab in addition to the individual work area. The glorification of the structure is positioned as the main concept in the plastic composition, highlighting it and making all the architectural accessories around the geometric solution: the triangle. The link of the building with the ground is subtle, exalting the concept of integration in the context. Its material composition is limited to use of stainless steel and glass, the steel covers the entire structure and the crown while the second covers the gaps and provides protection to the interior supported in turn by the siphon lattice whose objective is to mitigate the solar incidence by its strategic disposition that also captures the prevailing winds. This project aims to architecturally synthesize the set of current and future requirements for teacher training in a cordial dialogue between technology, structure and context.
