The revitalization of Nebojsa Tower complex includes the reconstruction of the remaining medieval tower and the Riverside rampart. The revitalization is aimed at including the monumental heritage into contemporary living, and introduction of new purposes appropriate to the significance of the Belgrade Fortress.

In dealing with the project task, the design team has been guided by the fact that the Nebojsa Tower should adopt a new function, as the new city exhibition space on four levels and with several theme exhibitions a permanent exhibition of the First Serbian Uprising and Belgrade under Turkish rule, as well as the section devoted to Rigas Feraios, Greek revolutionary that was killed inside the Tower. The adapted and statically reorganized space between the Riverside rampart and the inner wall curtain will have next to the entrance annex a multifunctional hall for lectures, tribunes, exhibitions, cafe and administrative section. Due to specific location, the Tower and the Riverside rampart have been exposed to possible inundations and flooding of the river

Danube. In addition, the underground waters constantly deteriorated the stability and object use value. The reconstruction means primarily securing the stability of the object, protecting it from the negative external effects and turning the space into a room for organizing different cultural programs. Since it is impossible to provide stability of the dilapidated rampart in the best possible way by partial reconstruction, and therefore enable access to the Tower, the removal of the entire earth fill between the walls of the riverside rampart is projected. Taking into consideration conservation conditions, with such an intervention the appearance of the Tower and rampart remained authentic except for a discreet intervention on the roof facade in the form of longitudinal lanterns.
