Topography of Philosophy

The project proposes to create a new philosophy academy complex in Poti, Georgia. This area was well known since the III century AD as the place of Colchian Phasis Academy where according to Greek philosopher Themistius philosophy and rhetoric were taught. Phasisi, today known as Poti, carries this memory and the goal of the thesis is to create a physical topography as an architectural narrative that connects history and place with the present. The project suggests a topography rather than mere architectural ensemble of buildings.

Umberto Eco tells us, "Before any narrative, it is essential to create a space for the narrative." This means that the same challenges that concern poets, philosophers, and writers also concern architects. We are travelers, facing questions. The creator walks through the labyrinth of life, seeking beauty and meaning. The project proposes to create a labyrinthine arrangement of spaces, buildings, and landscape elements to propose that - before any philosophy it is essential to create space for the philosophy. The space of the new Academy of Phasis represents a journey where the individual must overcome emotional and physical barriers in order to merge their consciousness with the world around them. It is a journey of transformation, where the individual moves through a space sculpted to evoke the union of self with the eternal rhythms of nature and existence. Each corner, each element invites the users, or rather thinkers to explore: an amphitheater ,Hidden libraries and spaces where people learn about themselves, a bridge, A place called Talk to Me,One philosopher's thought, theater a space beyond curtains and Art space The proposed thesis "Topography of Philosophy – The Complex of the New Phase Academy (City of Poti)" is discussed in the philosophical context of architecture, where the structure of the building not only meets functional needs but also reflects cultural, aesthetic, and philosophical ideas. The complex unites philosophy, art, culture, and education, with each space inviting a "reading" from the viewer. The proposed project, with its concept and function, represents an innovation for the region, creating a center of attraction for both the local population and visitors and tourists.
