The utopia was developed to propose a new formal and functional archipelago, in order to break\r\ndown the differences between center and periphery, between city and countryside. The aim of\r\nthe proposal focuses on new methods and techniques of cultivation and agriculture through\r\nvertical farming systems.
The city of Milan develops into the scene of an architectural project on a territorial scale: through the proposition of a new design-approach based on the conception of a series of architectural prototypes. These new architectural images for the city have\r\nbeen generated through the study of archetypes and architectural typologies, with particular attention to the link between form and function, providing answers to needs and to the expectations of contemporary living, and to the architectural-functional synthesis of\r\ncertain values for the 2030 Agenda - in which architecture and the periphery remain an invariant constant problem. The prototypes – generated prior to the area of intervention – have been lowered and adapted within specific areas, to integrate with the equipment services in the Greco district and the Central Station. The proposition of an architectural-functional system based on the history of these locations: the ancient historical link with the countryside, and successively, with the industry established at the end of the 19th century, made the creation of a new multifunctional master plan, based on agricultural production at the service of the city and the neighborhood possible. Vertical Farming systems become the fulcrum of the new urban generation plan, with the intention of bringing the countryside back into the city; for a new way of living and for a healthy and futuristic production while pursuing the utopia of breaking down the differences between center and periphery, between city and countryside, by constituting a new\r\nexperimental neighborhood designed to revive a piece of the metropolitan suburb.
