The interrupted connections of the urban space are the design cornerstone for the recovery of the abandoned area of the former Mira Lanza factory in Rome, the reuse of paleo-industrial archeology buildings and the recovery and enhancement of the archaeological area of the Roman era.
The thesis consists of two complementary parts, the first concerns research and analysis while the second deals with the design aspect.\r\nThe initial approach involved meticulous historical-iconographic research on the environmental systems of Rome and the Roman countryside and on the industrial settlements built between 1870 and 1931. Subsequently, the case study was chosen, following which: the historical-iconographic research, the documentary collection and the instrumental survey of the area with laser scanners aimed at mapping the environment and the state of affairs were carried out.\r\nThe data obtained were cataloged and put into a system to extrapolate the analyzes and draw up a list of critical issues.\r\nThe second part tried, from a design point of view, to provide possible answers to the critical issues identified. The key point of the project were pedestrian flows and social interactions: the immaterial space is precisely everything that makes an environment alive, fluid, lived.\r\nThe connection between Viale Marconi and Lungotevere Gassman has been solved through a pedestrian walkway which, in addition to guaranteeing transit also to people with reduced mobility, connects via vertical connections (ramps, stairs, elevators) to the new public spaces (for play, sociality, sport) of the former factory Mira Lanza.\r\nSecondly, the project of the museum at \"zero volume\", because it is hypogeum compared to the level of the park, has allowed the recovery and access both free and paid to the archaeological area of the Roman era. \r\nWith regard to the park, from an environmental point of view, plant species have been elected consistent with the riparian flora of the banks of the Tiber, the area has also been equipped with a rainwater collection tank necessary both for a virtuous management of the park and to contain sudden weather phenomena.
