A personal emotional connection with the observed natural phenomena makes us co-participants and gives a meaning to our existence. Immersion in water intensifies the multi-sensory feeling. It is a source of tranquility and even a spiritual experience.
Prevention and treatment of civilization diseases is a challenge faced by societies all over the world. In addition to pharmacology, there are also natural methods that have a beneficial effect on the human body and can be a supplement to therapy or a way to a healthy lifestyle. One of the resources that has been used for centuries for health purposes is water. Riverside boulevards, bathing areas, city baths and even fountains are the elements of a system of public spaces related to water, which heals through all our senses. Touch provides us with the most beneficial qualities. This is why the bath has been an important part of various cultures. Due to its symbolic meaning it is a part of many religious rituals. Water has a favorable influence on the mental and physical condition of a human. In turn, well-developed blue infrastructure impacts positively on the urban ecosystem.\nThe design solution is a conversion of ?luza Kamienna monuments complex along with the development of the boulevard on the Mot?awa River in Gda?sk. The project includes the transformation of the old pumping station into a healing bath, and the ruins of a mill into a multi-functional facility. The proposed functions were adapted to contemporary social needs. They create a resting place with the use of natural resources, and favors activities that are beneficial for the body and mind. Water was also taken into account in the design of the public space, by planning an outdoor swimming pool with a natural filtration system in the historical course of the river and by providing public access to the bank of the Mot?awa River.\nBoth buildings and the riverside area form the water complex - a starting point for kayaking trips, a stop for swimmers and a place of recreation for residents or tourists. The spot is also a part of the educational path of Hydromission, a project expanding the knowledge of the inhabitants of Gda?sk about water. Respect for water as one of the Earth's resources can affect the general ecological attitude of users.
