Sempiterno, a new intergenerational meeting space located in Moscow. A project that deals with the temporal variable and how the use of this old power station built in the 19th century has become obsolete, but at the same time offers the opportunity to create a new project that will work 24 hours a day, without schedules, just as it did the old factory.
One of the first decisions is to study the pre-existences of great historical, technological, social and architectural value. This project thus develops the concept of destructive construction to regenerate post-carbon scapes, deciding what to maintain, what to demolish, what to dismantle or what to move. A piece with a noticeable longitudinal character will connect the two main constructions and different ones will be twinned: interiors or exteriors, reused or new, shared or specific for an age group, thus generating mixed circulations and meeting points where individuals of different ages will coexist and interact in this same space. But the built space is just as important in the project as the empty one, a free space that expands with the elimination of the large space occupied by cars, what allows to take advantage of the exterior space, enhancing existing accesses and creating new ones. The temporal and exploitation condition that has been established for this project makes necessary to guarantee the new equipment does not create unnecessary duplication with other existing ones and it is capable of integrating and adapting at different times of the year and throughout the months to different uses, influx of users and situations on the site. And also connecting to other existing programs. to generate the new cultural, socio-sanitary, educational and mobility network of the polycentric city, reorganizing it and proposing new spaces and facilities that complement them, thus reconsidering the most classic operation of these programs. These abandoned and reused spaces will be resurrected, to make the city grow on the skeletons of industrialization, celebrating the unique history of this power plant, in which new unexpected scapes will be created with different scenarios.
