The project consists of the rehabilitation of an old factory converted into a theatre as a central point, accompanied by a proposal of mixed dwelling’s typologies which regenerates an inner block of Barcelona. Nevertheless, the main idea born after defining Barcelona as a collage city, when I suggest to rethink the naked city.
An interior block is rehabilitated with the propose of a collage of different types of housing designed from a direct response to nine problems and social needs identified during fieldwork. These housing models are going to grow around the centrepiece of the project: the theatre; this piece is born of an example of the reflection of the architect Perez Oyarzun on the “mirror and mantle ” briefly, this theory explains that when talking about the place at least two things must be thought of: that a work is always in a particular place and that it therefore relates to it, and on the other hand an architectural work always generates a place in itself; that is: A work is in a place and it is a place. Thus, the theatre is presented to the city as a volume that outwardly mimics the industrial identity of the neighbourhood and integrates modestly but with its own character; While inside it, presents a fantasy world thought and designed to transport the user to the world of the spectacle. \nSo, the basic idea of the project ends up being very simple: three boxes, three scenic typologies, within a structure existing. The definition of each of the boxes is as important as the path that is generated between them; and the complexity of the idea is given by the transversality between the different branches that define an architectural project: concept, structure, energy and comfort, and construction, said branches have the responsibility , working together, to define the identity of each space.\nThe construction of the project narrates the architecture of movement through light, the flow of people and the installations; and the riddle of the path generated by the shadows, the materiality and the geometry of the space.
