The fog collector has the function of supplying water to desert areas, but is it enough? How do these elements dialogue in the natural landscape? Have you taken over the architecture of your design? How do we integrate the industry into the landscape? These reasons lead to reinterpret elements that appear constantly due to desertification in Chile.
The project attempts to solve the problem of the lack of architecture and landscape at the facilities of the mist water collection systems (SCAN) in Chile, where the fog collector is not integrated into the functional, social and cultural dynamics of the site.\nThe main objective is to generate supply to the communities of Cavilolén (660 inhabitants), generate strategies and architecture and landscape operations, where a SCAN reinterpretation field is proposed, which in addition to seeking to solve the water problem, can be integrated into the dynamics of the territory, considering the activities of the place, with a social and cultural purpose. The formal operations of the project are divided into three stages:\nA. Macro-scale operations: identifying a master plan for the Cavilolén slope, with Land Art references, the operations consist of two stages: A. Identify the area with the highest frequency of fog and B. The areas with a state Advanced desertification as a possible location.\nB. Operations at scale of the slope: due to the austere landscape, the fog and the lack of reference points, it is decided that each element of the project is located every 30 meters to be guides in the journey from one community to another.\nC. Operations at 1: 1 scale These operations involve the morphology, materiality, dimensioning, views, landscapes, sensations, climate, vegetation and topography of the hunter.\nTo supply the inhabitants it is necessary to collect 66,000 lt daily. The 34 fog catcher of the project manage to capture 72,828 lt per day, adding 8100 lt of the capture towers, leaving a percentage to supply and maintain the social and cultural dynamics, through an intervention with industrial elements.\nLand area: 4.7 Hac.
