The general urban plan of Zagreb envisions a mixed use marking, with an emphasis on public activities. Latest initiative of the city authorities is to place the central city library (KGZ) in the area of Paromlin. Thesis answers to the problems surrounding this area by proposing urban plan for it and complementary concept design of the library at its center.
Urban planning: master thesis proposes a possible completion of a green line north to the Paromlin and along the railway line, therefore showing the possible effects of such urban proposition, in linking the urban fabric of a Lower Town and the area south of the railway. Architecture: thesis presents the vision of the subject area development, with an emphasis on the new central building of the Zagreb City Library Network (KGZ) in the newly designed urbanistic context. The main objective is to transform a neglected industrial area in the very heart of the city, into a place of intense public life with a dominant public content.
