With this project I want to give to the refugees a city
A side from being a global problem the term of refugee contains lots of emotion cultures and mobility. Without ignoring the terms of belonging, immigrant and immigration in the term of refugee I wanted to pay attention and find a solution to this global problem. I described Galata streets as a refugee streets and Galata Tower as a emetional refugee tower. The site was just opposite Galata tower so l could't ignore historical value of the tower.Everythig l do in this area was effective because of it was an attraction spot. So l want it to be effective for refugees. I want to continue Galata streets abstractly an the site and everything which can be in a city to be an the site such as cafes, shopping areas, workshops, grocery stores etc. Including such an important topic into architecture and design disciplines. So as to create an awareness against immigration and sense of belonging problems, was activating effectively my project as a graduation project. I started to design my project establishing context between the place of project and the topic of the project. The streets of Galata was my starting point. I designed this site to continue the streets of Galata and contain the soul of Galata. I wanted refugees to be a part of the city who live on this site and communicate with people and I include the terms of mobility and immigrant to my project. Any nests remind me immigration. So ant occupations and nests was one of my base point of the concepts. I started to occupy the site by settling slowly on the site. Briefly my concept is concept is based on streets and occupation terms. I created a modern , jointed, mobile camp site. Maybe this camp site will occupy the whole Galata one day rooftops of the buildings in Galata and the will be a part of the city.
