Task was to design the reconstruction of the existing sports ground in the centre of Prague. The playground serves sport activities to local residents and schools. Today it is a closed area full of barriers. The aim was to confirm sport as an important part of the city and design it better, with with appropriate continuity to public space.
The trees and terrain of the existing sports grounds are located on an elevated terrain platform. In the direction of a small square I propose the connection of both height levels by means of wide steps leading under the maple crowns. New public space creates casual filter. Naturally there would be a seating and meeting place communicating with the public space of the square in front of the site.\nI am reinforcing the street crossing corners and accentuating the tower, into which I design a café interacting with the square and the entrance area of the sports ground. In the upper part is an acrobatic hall with a view of the Church of St. Jakub and its surroundings. The big theme for me are proporcions and the resulting monumentality. On the ground floor are located cloakrooms, which allow both direct contact with the outdoor sports ground and a clear link to the exercise halls on the 2nd floor. Diagonally from the cloakrooms, at the level of the sports ground, there is a small house of the manager of the premises, which ensures the necessary control over the space. Between the new shape and the high school buildings is situated multifunctional playground for the citizens and schools.
