The villa is located in Rind, Vayots Dzor region, the wine-making center of Armenia. It is built on a hillside, with a 360° view of the surrounding mountains and vineyards. The house is in harmony with the surrounding nature and does not violate the context of the village’s construction. Despite its dominant position, the simple geometry ensures harmony with the surroundings, complementing the given context. The backyard of the house provides privacy to the residents, despite the fact that it is open from all sides. This was achieved as a result of the choice of the location of the house.
The area where the vineyard is located is a plateau at an altitude of 1350m above sea level, surrounded by mountains and with 360° visibility. In the western part of the garden there is a hill, which is the dominant element of the garden due to its height. This hill was chosen for the villa. The one-story house has a spacious terrace on the eastern side, part of which falls into deep shadow. The north-eastern corner is glazed, which contributes to a more complete perception of the view from the villa. At the back of the house (western facade) is a space enclosed by a natural landscape, which is not perceptible from the outside due to its location, creating a private space. Being far from the capital was the main difficulty when building. This circumstance also led to the construction. A change in the company, which in turn extended the construction. However, in the end, all the problems were overcome and the result shown was achieved.
The structure is made of reinforced concrete walls and insulated from the outside with thermal insulation. The thermal insulation layer is in turn protected by a layer of cement-sand plaster reinforced with a synthetic mesh. There is a dye on the colored plaster. The roof is green and provides greater insulation from the summer heat and retains heat in the winter. The shallow pool on the eastern facade and the swimming pool at the back provide natural cooling in the house. Sewage is treated by a septic treatment plant. A VRF system is used for heating and cooling the house, and the heat inside is supplemented by electrically heated floors. An engineering systems corridor runs along the entire structure, in the north-south direction, in the basement floor, which also serves the pool. Solar-powered lighting fixtures were used for outdoor lighting. Stones collected from local fields were used to form the entrance to the villa.
