The main objective of the proposal is to connect the area to the water and maintain accessibility to the river. The area under consideration had several constraints. The first limiting element is the planned flood wall running across the subject site dividing it in half. Another is the slope of the parcel, which exceeds an elevation of approximately 6 metres. Furthermore, on the western side of the site, the adherence to the street line and the appropriate connection of the proposed green space in the public realm to the green space in the surrounding area.
The project is part of the Prague-Holešovice district. Today, the Holešovice harbour is used to moor ships in case of floods and there is no easy access to the water surface. The main aim of the design was to connect the area to the water and to maintain accessibility to the river. Therefore, I approached the project area comprehensively with all the impacts and constraints. The first constraint is the planned flood wall which runs across the site and divides the site in half. This in my proposal has created a division of the land into two parts for development and public space. The access to the water level in the middle of the site is by means of low terraces that slowly descend to compensate for the difference in slope. The other half has been kept at the level of Jankovcova Street for the development. Most important was the preservation of the river frontage to form a gateway on the road leading to the water level. The connection of the green space with the surroundings in the southern part of the common area forms a suitable recreation area. The design concept for the two masses serving as a museum and marina was to preserve the river frontage, the street line, the flood wall and the connection to the surrounding greenery from which the building forms emerged. This creates two masses that grow to a height of four storeys. Buildings resembling crystals in their mass, which appear to grow out of the ground. The complex of two proposed buildings includes a public space for recreation in the wider area. In the middle section there are green areas with gravel paths, a water feature and seating. To the left of the site as seen from Jankovcova Street is the access to the water surface for boat traffic to the surface.
