The thesis deals with the design of a post-media studio of AVU, the idea of which is based on three pillars. Not only is the building for artists, but it also aims to create a place for interdisciplinary collaboration, it provides a space for the synthesis of digital and physical art and serves as a beacon encouraging the integration of art into society.
Today we stand on the threshold of great changes in turbulent times of climate crisis and international conflicts. The project seek the potential for addressing these challenges in academic art institutions that no longer serve only artists but are places of interdisciplinary collaboration between professionals, society and artists. It is in the creative transfer at the interface of people from different cultural or intellectual backgrounds that the project sees the potential for the generation of new ideas and the emergence of disciplines that can help us find a new vision and ways to overcome the trials that lie ahead.\nPrague is a city of a thousand towers, spires of churches, cathedrals and town halls that people look up to for their beauty and impact that transcends our everyday physical world. Today, however, the horizon is filled mainly with high-rise buildings of corporations and brands that point only to themselves and materialistic character of our era. The new Postmedia building aims to bring back the majestic typology of the tower, its reach to a higher message and to show the power of art as a driving force of society. \nThe tower is designed as an everchanging object. The textile facade of the building is a canvas on which the digital projection of virtual art translates into a physical image. Thus, it becomes a mediator between art and society. The building is a beacon that invites and encourages everyone to participate in the creative process of finding answers to the challenges of today. \nA little plot of land is resulting in a reduction of the building footprint to an absolute minimum. The project experiments with hybrid structure of a timber skeleton stiffened by a lateral concrete core that serves as static, technical and infrastructural support. The art club and gallery in lower floors are designed to integrate with the public. The upper floors are dedicated to vertical studios with trigger galleries, that allow spatial possibilities and are complemented by research laboratories (digital, robotic, audio-visual, biological) equipped with cutting-edge technologies.
