Located at the company's headquarters in StuttgartZuffenhausen, the Porsche Museum was conceived as a dynamic monolithic volume that seemingly floats over the folded topography of its site. The reflective surface underneath captures images of street traffic moving around the freestanding structure and visually enlarges the ground floor entrance. A broad staircase rising from the foyer represents the deepest point of a spiral which is stretched and transformed into different zones for the library, archives and administration on the first floor and culminates in the museum levels on the second, third and fourth floors. Much like an urban landscape, the spiralling interior's circulation and exhibition areas create quiet areas like plazas, or more accelerated zones like busy roads, and the elastic relation between the compressing and expanding spaces emphasise the tension of the spatial experience. At the top is a vast roof terrace that provides space for different uses.
