Winery
The Bishop’s winery is a firm with a history of over 50 years. An adequate handling of the Winery with the city and its urbanistic Context is the basis for the Further development of the winery. The historical Cellars come from the Middle Ages and the antiquity makes an exciting demolition to think the space in a completely different way.
The new construction of the winery is based on the existing wine cellar plant, there is a second volume in the form of a block in south of the property, which interacts with the main function volume - so creates a semi-closed space. The main entrance of the building faces the old town; thus, the main façade is developed as a urban space presence in an iconic form.\nRegarding the function, the main building is divided to public and production area. The functional attribute can be read through the façade design - technically influenced elements for the production, in dialogue with symbolic large forms, which shape the face of the public area. Visitors can not only take a comfortable wine tasting, but also experience the production process through the glass facade. Through the different lighting methods within the large event space on its three levels, a play of light and shadow is created that makes a special interior atmosphere. The attached existing cellar, as a transition, harmoniously combines old and new without creating a stylistic break.
