Performing Arts Center in Moda

In Kad?köy / Moda Park and the coastline is deactivated because of the Public obstacles such as car park and municipality facility.How can a public building make this area socialy active ?How can a building become a social-cultural catalyst an lead to this park meet with people again?

Moda is a cultural and social district that located on the coastline of the Kad?köy. The project area which is in moda coast is occupied by car park and municipality facility,there is a park starts where these facilities end. But the park can not be use as a park as there is public obstacle next to it.\nIt is decided to demolish this facilities and turn this area into a social – cultural space and build a performing art center in order to create a catalyst to achive that.\nFor The Performing Art Center ,first design criteria is “ it needs to respect to inhabitants of Moda and Moda itself”.To Achive that building level is equalized to the street level,so does not block the view of the Mühürdar Street.It blends with the topography and creates an elevated recreation area on the top of the building with it is unique landscape where the building meets with street.This recreation area has two vista point, observation terrace which allows people to sit and watch the view.\nThe Mass split ito 2 pieces with a stairs from the axis of Mehmet Ayvalitas Square.The Stair allows to have an open air concert on it and the treads turns into seats for people.\nBuilding is Connected below the stair and that particular area is a space for visual-social interaction point where all the functions meet.This Space connects Exhibition, Movie Theater, Main Performing art Hall and Secondary Stage together.\nThe Axis from Mehmet Ayvalitas Square is end up with an Urban Pier where people can meet and involve in a relatio with the sea.
