The gym is located in a park (former bastion) which surrounds the historical town centre. It is an addition to an existing schoolhouse & an old brick building from the 19th century. The newcomer faces towards the old building and between them a cosy courtyard is formed. During the daytime the gym s north facing glass facade mirrors the old building, at nighttime it works as a big projectorlamp.
A special pattern was used for the brick walls to animate the surface. A total of 365 small windows inside the brick wall bring light in during day and cast it out to the park at night. In summertime, when the surrounding trees are green, the building disappears into the park and in the winter season it communicates more with the surrounding cityscape.
