My project is a turkish charactered spa close to a local turkish monument spa in Pécs. I designed the functions on three different floors. Accordingly my spa has spaces for lonely meditation as well as spaces for evolve social life.
As my graduation thesis I selected my spa plan to work with, which I have designed in the 3rd year of my architectural studies. In that semester our designs was about "Community forming forces". In this topic I would have liked to go back to the custom of social bathing. By scanning the historical vestiges of Pécs, there are many signs which show us the claim for social bathing. Consequently I wanted to bring back this habit to the city's life and give space to acting like a community in this way. I felt enthusiastic about setting my plan in the old town, learning about the historical bathing cultures and by using these knowledge designing a contemporary spa which wears on itself the old tuskish spa's heritage. I have chosen this bathing culture as starting point for design, because their sense of water was really likeable for me. I could really identify with their respect of water that "keep us alive and get rid of us from dirt of body and soul". The logical structure of their bath houses and spaces was example to follow for me too. Besides I was convinced about the "spa" function is a real need in Pécs, because at present there are three water-related facilities, but all of them approach the topic by sport.
