The existing building was built in the 1980s and completed on the outside. Inside, a rhetorical staircase is in the centre of the space. The project's purpose was to transform a building and change it into an exhibition hall and offices. I decided to increase the paradoxical monumentality of the building, through a new empty structure, an open space, covered on the sides. Its function is a polyvalent space. In fact, it has fitted to accept temporary expositions or artistic installations and to function as hall: a light machine 12 m high allows the view of the Appia Street through a wall made by pierced concrete. Eightyeight columns form a forest where different ways are possible.
