The subject of my thesis is the new building for the University DAMS Roma Tre . Beyond the purely teaching spaces ( classrooms , laboratories ... ) the building was conceived as a meeting place for the whole neighborhood , in fact , it is present inside a large bar , a conference room of 450 seats , squares internal , shops and a library .
The reasons why I chose to do this project are manifold. First of all I know very well the theme and the characteristics that must have a modern university, in fact, we have to get out of the classical conception of the University as a place of study and think that these structures can be places to socialize and to spend your free time. Secondly, the choice to do this project is tied my attraction towards the neighborhood, always multiethnic, dynamic, young and alive. The architectural decisions are aimed at enhancing the area through a compact shape that little ridges on the surrounding built, contrasting with rigid external forms an internal dynamism made by volumes that defy gravity and wide terraces where to study. The decision to organize the entire building on more squares is related to the conception of ITALIAN SQUARE as places of meetings and exchange of views. Finally also the treatment of green spaces, sinuous and soft create a break with the rigor of the perimeter mass
