The newly created space exceeds the limits of the remains of cultural heritage, while the goal of the project is to build a fortification as a stage, in which the visitor identifies the space of the scenography and uses the new environment as a medium to convey the mood and interpret the meanings depicted within certain narratives. The work aims to show the importance of creating a sustainable strategy, the meaning of which lies in the understanding of the mechanism system and the inclusion of the ecosystem through its interactions with the designed structures.
The problem and subject of research is defined as the issue of establishing new models and techniques of architectural design and their creation in a medium that includes fragmentation as a socio-cultural and philosophical phenomenon. The work opens the possibility for the multiplicity of layering of reality, creating a visual experience in its own fragments. Through research in the field of digital architecture, through mapping the field of imagination, collages and the creation of dreamscapes and allegorical fragments of drawings, with an emphasis on the analysis of the boundaries of function and form elaborated through a series of models and tripartic hand drawings, the goal of translating virtual worlds into real spatial frameworks is reached. In this way, the drawing is created on the basis of a certain theory and methodology, relying on existing physical structures of the context forming a strategic drawing. The entire system can be thought of in terms of subsystems, systems operating at macro and micro levels, which relate to the entire range from urban to human scales. The elements of the composition do not form a fixed scenario, but depending on the time, situation, program, it is possible to adjust the scale, transform it and supplement it with new elements, while in the abstract sense they remain essentially unchanged and always retain their typical significance and scope as the existing structures of the Mamula fortress. The thesis explores the complex relationships of allegory, memory, place and architecture by exploring how architecture can simultaneously bear witness to to time itself - the past and the present, forever and the time yet to come.
