The spatial concept is based on a semiatrium square, shaped and framed on three sides by a series of chapels, colonnades and other built structures. Semiatrium structure creates an introverted space that continually establishes the relation between the outer and inner space, between open and closed. The basic idea of the project is that the whole area of the Memorial square, in accordance with its intended use, should create the impression of simplicity, serenity and dignity.
The symbolism of last farewell and the metaphysics of life and death, was conducted at the level of materialization by the use of natural materials where primarily dominates stone-sandstone. Sandstone should create the impression of monumentality of the whole complex, and establishes a spiritual connection with the sacral architecture of the region. Volume and shape follow a general concept by consistently implementation of the principle of simplicity, monumentality, ambient integrity and moderation. Size of the site: 35000m2 Size of the building: 2000m2 Sustainable aspect: The use of covered spaces and porches as passive system.
