The concept of the building is connected with a Stanislaw Lem’s novel – “Solaris”. Author created one of the most original visions of an alien – an intelligent ocean. The idea is based on organic, natural forms, soft and sharp shapes and designing an intelligent building.
The idea of Literature Forum is connected with UNESCO Creative Cities Network program. Cracow became a part of it in October 2013 as a City of Literature. There are many cultural events related to literature in Cracow and there is a lack of special space for it. Literature Forum is a concept of unique place where people can exchange their thoughts, meet and talk about their favourite books, celebrating a written word. I chose a location nearby the Vistula river. In the neighbourhood there is a street and the Science Park named after a polish science-fiction writer - Stanis?aw Lem. That's why I also decided to named my Cultural Center the same. Also because of the name of the street I became inspired by Lem’s novels. Working process was very exciting. Lem took me into an extraordinary world and I hope the project comes there as well. I designed a housing-business district with a Literature Center in the middle. The whole complex is named after Lem’s first book - Astronauts. I always wanted to desing something high-tech and sci-fi like, and Stanis?aw Lem’s Literature Forum gave me that opportunity.
