The project is an attempt to solve the devastation in landscape caused by mining in the Municipality of Kleczew. The last active opencast lignite in the region, became the experimental field. By continuing the tradition of the energy industry and the introduction of ecological solutions, project shows direction towards sustainable development.
In search of a theme for a thesis I tried to find a place accumulating various problems. In this way I discovered Kleczew, small municipality located 100 kilometers from Pozna?. Many years of mminig activity in this region led to significant transformation of the landscape. Nowadays, the town of Kleczew is surrounded by a huge pits of lignite that create an unusual scenery, terrifying and alluring at the same time. It quickly became clear that the degradation of the environment and space are only the most easily noticeable problems. In the next four years deposits of lignite in the Municipality of Kleczew will be exploited. The end of mining in the region means another complications. Many inhabitants will lose their jobs. Increasing unemployment, lower revenues to the local budget and deficiencies in the supply of electricity (produced previously from lignite), is just the top of the iceberg. Being aware of the situation I have attempted to change a problem into an opportunity for a further development of Kleczew.
