The InstaBuilt Innovation Center located in Obiliq, Kosovo, serves as the headquarters and production hub of a modular construction company. It combines industrial halls with offices, research areas, and reception spaces, creating a multifunctional programme. Conceived as a horizontal composition, the project avoids a monumental presence and instead dissolves into its context, by stretching across the site in a horizontal line, the project rejects monumentality, adopting the modest scale of single houses and blending seamlessly into its landscape.
The project addressed the challenge of creating a large scale modular construction facility that could function efficiently while also offering a welcoming and inspiring environment for employees and clients. The strategy was to design a facility that reflects the speed and precision of modular production yet avoids the monotony of a purely functional setting. The interiors were conceived as open, light-filled, and flexible spaces that encourage collaboration. Our intention was to create coworking space to spark social interaction, enhances team creativity where they will be able to create future of the living through modular design. Natural elements such as greenery and wood introduced warmth, contrasting with the industrial setting and supporting a biophilic approach. Offices, social areas, and meeting spaces are blended with production halls, ensuring both operational efficiency and a human centered atmosphere.
The InstaBuilt Innovation Center is built with modular prefabricated systems, reflecting the company’s expertise in offsite construction. Structural elements are manufactured in controlled factory conditions to reduce errors, accelerate assembly, and minimize waste. Interiors use warm, durable finishes such as wood, complemented by greenery to enhance wellbeing. Regular care of natural wood and greenery, and the advantage of modular replacement—damaged panels or interior elements can be swapped without major disruption. The structure’s adaptability also allows reconfiguration as programme needs evolve, reducing long term costs and extending the building’s lifecycle
