The site for the design of this facility is located in Lviv, on the territory of the Znesinnia landscape park. The designed building belongs to the Klymentiy Sheptytskyi Museum of Folk Architecture and Life "Shevchenko Grove". The building includes the following functions: an entrance area, which serves as a new entrance to the museum with ticket offices and a souvenir sales area, a multifunctional hall with a cafe area, a children's area for children aged 4 to 10, an exhibition space, conference rooms and administrative premises. The external space of the building is also used for holding events of various types, through the use of a multifunctional operated roof and the adjacent territory of the complex. The shelter covers an area of over 130 sq. meters and can provide shelter for more than 200 people if necessary.
There were underground public toilets at the construction site, which over time became ruins and unusable. Therefore, the customer set a condition to provide new toilets for visitors to the Open-Air Museum. There was also a need for minimal intervention in the natural landscape with the preservation of green spaces and large trees, since the object is located on the territory of the Znesinnia landscape reserve. Therefore, the object was partially submerged in the ground with compensation for green spaces on a new exploited green sloping roof. Also, during wartime, as a result of russian aggression, it was necessary to provide security for visitors. Therefore, in the project, a full-fledged shelter appeared in place of the technical underground, which meets the new building standards for civil protection of the population.
The project provides for the use of a monolithic reinforced concrete frame for the strength and stability of the structure in war conditions. High glass structures were used on the facades for the transparency and invisibility of the object, through which the forest of the open-air museum is visible. Inclined columns inside the building, which hold the roof, resemble trees - as a connection between the internal space and nature. Energy-efficient insulation of structures was used - the object has an energy efficiency class B, which affects the preservation and development of the environment. The building also provides for complete energy autonomy and the abandonment of natural gas fuel - as independence from the russian "gas needle". Alternative sources of energy and heat were installed - a solid fuel boiler (wood), a 65 kW diesel generator.
