The project is located in São Paulo, Brazil. And it aims to draw attention to the current invisibility of the city's rivers. By bringing up buildings in the river’s floodplain, the project tries to reframe the leisure previously associated with this area while recognizing the latent beauty of the waters through a tower implanted in the middle of the river.
São Paulo is one of the most populous cities in the world, which by sowing and feeding interests, quickly became a major economic center in Brazil and gained relevance in the national scene. However, its growth over the centuries has been disorganized and uncontrolled. In order to serve the interests of the dominant class, urban planning was designed to favor vehicles over other transport’s modes. And this was in large proportion, one of the reasons, that ideas such as walking around the city, cycling and above all, taking over the public space, are continuously being left out. \nThe isolation and almost indifference of its inhabitants can also be seen in relation to the waters of the city, which are a latent beauty and are increasingly invisible. Whether due to the predominance of high-speed cars, the large number of high walls in the metropolis, or the impermeable concrete that dominates the landscape of São Paulo’s capital.\nLocated on the Pinheiros River, between the Jaguaré bridge and the USP lane, the pedestrian overpass frames the river itself, while bringing people closer to it. The project carries out an urban seam between important elements of the region and offers a public displacement to different landscapes within the river floodplain.\nThe idea of ??a relationship between water and memory is also pursued. Memory of a floodplain that lost its use of subsistence and leisure, characteristic of the 1930s, when the Jaguaré Bridge, guiding element of the project, was built. Memory of a new meaning through the introduction of several programs within a tower of a hundred meters high in the middle of the river.\nThe central idea of ??the project is to bring out the existence of the river, draw attention to the dirt that destroys it and awaken the imaginary towards a more nurturing and friendly city. The project seeks to create a feeling of belonging to urban life in public spaces in relation to its inhabitants, bringing water as the main element.
