Human evolution and modern life have distanced us from the environment and our connection to space. This project parallels contemporary and primitive humans, invoking the cave archetype to explore atmospheres that enhance sensitivity through excavated architecture. It examines the raw material of the territory and the void, highlighting the interplay of darkness, light, texture, and color. This architecture sparks imagination, revealing natural and excavated spaces, to harmonize the natural quarry in site with the artificial, shaping an Artistic Sculpture Center.
Within nature emerges an unknown curious space, calling and drawing the subject to uncover its mysteries. Hidden, lies the Artistic Sculpture Center, seeking to restore the landscape of the discovered quarry. Through this intervention, the aim was to create a connection that harmoniously transitions between the pre-existing elements and the natural landscape. The proposed architecture when viewed from the outside, its placement in the terrain is discreet, almost imperceptible to passersby; on-site, its spatiality is revealed inwardly. This approach aims to provide the facility with the necessary conditions of tranquility, far from the stimuli of modern society, fostering emotional connections between humans and their environment. The Artistic Sculpture Center includes a residential building for artists, connected to workspaces and studios. The goal is to create a space for rest and reflection. Through architecture, the aim is to achieve a dreamlike existence, transitioning seamlessly between day and night. To promote the focus required for artistic creation and enjoyment, enhanced by natural ambiances, this intention is also reflected in the architecture.A longitudinal design guides visitors on a journey through sculpture, where the artistic object, the subject, and the architecture communicate with one another. This architectural proposal invites contemplation of moments generated by nature, intertwined with the built environment. As one slowly moves through this architecture, hidden within the material fullness of the earth, expressions of light, shadow, contrasting textures, tones, colors, and the melody of nature penetrating the building emerge. It is through these manifestations within the inhabited void that the hidden space reveals itself and gains its expression.
