Located on a challenging terrain with streams, plateaus, and dense forest, the project comprises a main house and an auxiliary workshop with garage. Designed as prefabricated units, the architecture establishes a quiet dialogue with nature through simple forms and large glass surfaces. Numerous visits to the site before construction shaped the design approach — the pronounced roof defines the dwelling as a covered fragment of the exterior, where landscape, light, and changing seasons determine the atmosphere of this off-grid retreat.
Confronting the challenges of a remote, rugged site and strict environmental constraints, a Low Impact strategy guided all decisions, minimizing excavation, transport, and disruption. The program is organized into two volumes — living and working — carefully positioned according to topography and function. The pronounced roof frames the interior as a covered fragment of the exterior, allowing landscape, light, and seasonal changes to define the spatial experience. All paths and access routes remain unpaved — a deliberate design choice allowing the landscape to define circulation and preserve the site’s natural character. Prefabricated construction enabled precise assembly, while off-grid systems for solar, wind, and water reinforce sustainability once implemented.
The project employs prefabricated steel frames and insulated panels, designed for modular assembly in a remote and difficult-to-access location. Large glazed openings connect interior and exterior, maximizing daylight and passive ventilation. Off-grid systems — including solar panels, a wind turbine, and water collection and treatment, are planned to ensure energy independence and sustainability once implemented. Prefabrication reduces cost, waste, and environmental impact, while ensuring easy maintenance and long-term resilience.
