The main idea of ??the project is to create a space to initiate the renovation of the Saint-Jacques district in Perpignan. The project consists of an architectural and urban part. The proposal is a cultural object, apartments for short-term rental, a square design and an underground car park.
When creating the concept of the project, I was looking for links between Jewish and Roma culture. The term of the Holocaust connects these two cultures in one of the toughest periods in history. The architectural part includes the project of the Holocaust Museum, which combines educational and cultural functions. The second designed building is a residential part with apartments for short-term rental. This allows integration of Roma culture with other cultures. In the middle of the building an open space of the atrium type was created, constituting a common part. Thanks to short-term rental, the district can be visited more often and inhabited by tourists. Two buildings are connected with each other through the underground part of the Museum with a permanent exhibition, available to everyone. The separated corridor is an independent part of the exhibition. In the underground part there is also a restaurant. On the ground floors of buildings there are services that activate space. The urbanistic part of the project is the square in front of the main entrance of the Museum. Disordered parking from the existing square has been moved to the underground, parking spaces have been planned for both residents of the district and visitors to the Museum. I planned the creation of a multi-functional space over the underground parking, which at the same time complements the architectural design. The composition of the square is subordinated to the main axis directing the main entrance of the Museum. A so-called Promenade of Light is planned - 33 lamps arranged linearly along the path. Number 33 is to be associated with the 1933 year - beginning of the Holocaust.
