Frigoriferi Milanesi Area overlooks via Piranesi through a low, long building. The lack of personality of the building will be highlighted by two processes: on the one hand a coat of black paint will be given in order to transform the structure into a black hole swallowing everything; on the other a new, shiny 'skinpeel' made of glass will be overlapped in order to make the volume twodimensional and to create a 'night effect'.
Changed now into an urban 'landmark' with a double aesthetic dimension (a coloured façade towards the city, and a monolithic frontage within the area), the building points out as a big, bright arrow the inner activities. Open Care Café represents a new use of the space: on one side we find a homelike corner, with a fireplace, on the other we can find the urban corner, symbolizing 'rapidity', marked by a counter made of wood, steel and glass. Caveau is the most charming element of Frigoriferi Milanesi: in the Foyer lights and furniture create a relaxing space, suspended between the black vehicular ramps and the labyrinth of corridors and vaults.
