Position Ifema as leader of national and international fairs through Architecture. Understanding the importance of public spaces in the city. This is the objective of the project. Work on the border between the urban space and the private area through Architecture. Articulation of spaces as a method to organize the city and the spaces that coexist in it.
The intervention aims not only to create a new hotel for the fair - as originally was proposed - but to expand the premises fair with two new exhibition units, which will position IFEMA as the national leader of fairgrounds in-regarding exhibition area. The hotel is projected as a new access to the Fair. It was decided not to limit the way of accessing the fair city with physical limits. Access to the set is defined by a compression of the space generated by the covering of the traffic between the urban fabric and the new Ifema’s square. All of this leads to projecting a space that serves the entire Ifema, and not only the guests of the hotel. A hybrid plan connected to the central building of the fairground is proposed. Providing it all the services that the fair needs today. An organic rhythm is used. Linked with the natural context created from the structural modulation and the alignment of the adjoining trees. The indoor spatial organization is embodied in the liberation of space. ‘Fair City’ is the capsule city which contains all the needs for the contemporary business life. Meetings, sport, Spa and relaxing spaces are all under the same cover. This new business way of life, will allow us to be a better society in relation with business context. Working life is also a human life. The housing modules are configured as independent capsules. The aim of this is to create a type of room that responds to the necessary pause after a fair day. This is why they are treated with a naval aesthetic, almost dynamic ship which contains the complete rest for the guest. Architecture allows us to create the best meeting spaces in order to reach our professionals and personal goals. A dynamic, temporary and evolutionary character with the capacity to adapt itself to whatever will happen under its limits. This is the image that the new element of the city wants to convey.
