The constructive stabilization of substance and matter - richly described in the collection of essays - stimulates a personal, an artistic stabilization of matter. The constructive elements and design parameters described in the essays are taken from their theoretical context; they are extracted from a whole and considered in their individuality. Graphically, the result is a confrontation between figure and ground, resolved in geometric abstractions. It shows a personal search for the process of becoming form and proposes an expanded perception of reading an architectural project.
By means of a textual confrontation of themes in the form of short essays, defining moments from architectural theory relating to construction, the production of form and the design of building components are collected. In the form of a graphic collection an examination of design parameters is created, which is contextualized through the tool of language. This is comparable to contemplating about the task, seemingly being the act of reflection. The focus is on processuality as part of the design. The elements and design parameters described in the essays are taken from their theoretical context; they are extracted from a whole and considered in their individuality. Graphically, the result is a collection of graphical confrontations between figure and ground, resolved in geometric abstractions. In this context the moment of transformation from language to graphics to a change in perception is interesting. This work wants to expand the concept of architectural drawing and proposes an expanded way of reading an architectural project. For a moment, the conventional rational perception of reading an architectural project is set aside and attention is drawn to perceiving the graphic drawing with all its facets. This is because immersing ourselves in the drawing frees us from the compelling expectation of having to find a statement in it and gives us the unique opportunity to observe the process of becoming form - and thus to observe the emerging of a project. So letting a drawing take effect and unfold can be taken as an expression of thinking about the search for form.
