Residential lifestyle nowadays differs from the past due to the improved concepts of living. Kolovica, an area at the periphery of Prishtina, was an impetus for developing modern projects in Kosovo. The development of residential houses, restaurants, stores, motels, and villas are designed to improve the quality of living, working, and studying.
To begin with, the area of the Kolovica, specifically the suburban context, provided enough positive and compelling characteristics that this village could support a healthy life for hundreds of people. Indeed, analysis of a wind, sunlight, greenery, access to the location were some of the factors determining how the masses, particularly how and where all of the volumes of houses, stores, motels, villas will be placed. As these analyses began to define how buildings will react to the environment, the focus of the project was based on the other factors as well. To clarify, the performance of the buildings, particularly the reaction to the environment, determined the design of them. Therefore, buildings had similarities, specifically the column strategy.\nMoreover, the slope environment and the minimal reaction to it was an impetus to further design the village in an urban context. Overwhelming analysis of the slope environment required accessibility for pedestrians from one part of the village to another. As the village is divided with infrastructure, and the design of houses is unique among all of the mini-islands, the connection between villages for pedestrians is necessary. Stairs and ramps facilitate a connection between these mini-islands and make it possible for all of the residents to access the park. The park designed gives access to every inhabitant of the village. \nAt last but not at least, the overall concept of Kolovica is based on abundant analyses and references. This design would be compatible for native and international inhabitants due to the traditional qualities expressed in a contemporary way, and due to the fact that future built environment would profoundly become eco-friendly. In addition, the inhabitants of this village can study, work, live and perform every daily-life task within the village. Furthermore, the village of Kolovica supports life for three generations. During this project, I truly understood the ways of improving the performance of buildings by creating painstaking solutions that they do not affect negatively the environment.
