E- House

The project is located on a 5000 sqm plot whose dominant feature is a natural rock covering the 30% of the plot, which eventually gave rise to a unique design proposal. E-House was designed to be in harmony with such an element, providing a life style the architect has been dreaming for himself as well as an architectural statement marking all the years spent as a practising architect. The project consists of a tower covered with natural stones and a bridge that gently lands in on top of the rock functioning as the living space of the family. The building is located on a 5000 sqm plot in the Yahsi village of the Bodrum peninsula, at the Aegean Sea coast of Turkey. The plot is defined by a rock hill which arises on the center of a dish shaped steep land. This statue like rock covering around 30% of the plot stands out distinctively from the surroundings, with a 360 degree panoramic view of the whole region.

Design Aim of the project is to design a house that is in harmony with the aura of the plot, without compromising the pureness of rock. EHouse is designed with in 250sqm construction area as a tower covered with natural stones from local quarries and a bridge that gently attaches itself to the rock without oppressing its natural shape. The existing plateau on the rock is designed to generate the living space of the building, the level differences are used to create the swimming pool and the terrace. Structural system is reinforcedconcrete and steel. Building materials are chosen from vernacular sources. The facade of the tower is composed by a 'Bodrum' stone that shares the same origin with the Rock Hill on the plot. Recycled travers is used as lintels. Site lamps are designed by using clay flowerpots produced in the peninsula.

Rain water storage tank is located in the plot with the capacity of 80 tons. Hot water is provided by solar panels designed on the tower. Openings are also positioned considering to the dominant wind direction for natural ventilation to minimize energy consumption for cooling. Artificial lighting is mostly provided by 'led' systems. Southern facade sustains heating in cold seasons as sun path is lower and sun shades prevent over heating in summer. Finishing materials are easy to maintenance and environment friendly.
