The development of a future-oriented high-rise typology inevitably leads to the year 1921. On the occasion of the 100-year anniversary of the unrealized project "Wabe" by Mies, its unbundling and localization of the core topics serves as a vehicle and projection screen for the high-rise development.
L - Mechanics of metropolis 1. The prototype serves as a densification tool of the city. It is intended to relieve areas and structures worthy of preservation in order to be able to protect them. The required uses complement the needs of the city. 2. The building is added to its surroundings. While the spherical form floats non-specifically in the surroundings, the building specifically links itself to the existing street network. The punctual footprint is minimally invasive.\nM - Apparatus of technology 3. A future-oriented high-rise building is created, which meets the fast pace of the city. The prototype has a clear basic structure consisting of a floor grid, the arrangement of 4 stairwells and a variable floor height, allow for a high, flexible mix of uses. 4. The spherical shape allows for maximum volume with minimum footprint. It allows a variety of uses to be combined in a tall building, which require a high depth. 5. The size of the radius of the prototype develops from the intersection of the 4 stairwells. By arranging the cores in a square, there is maximum freedom of arrangement of the uses, which can be hung inside or pushed through the body. The contact with the spherical surface and the inclination of the units create different volume bodies, space sizes and spatial qualities. The access cores, which have a clear conception, get into different contexts. This corresponds to the design idea of moving through different structures. 6. The atrium serves as a transmitter. It is a place of gathering people with different intentions. It is a place of optimization to enable new human relationships. It is a place which is played 24/7. It is a place that brings all worlds together in a small space. The architectural articulation of the worlds can be permeable, semi-permeable and impermeable. 7.The result is a radical co-existence of different systems, uses and user groups.\nS - Value of surface 8. The prototype becomes an incubator for new ways of living. 9. The radical density of the uses creates new networks in a confined space. 10. The uses allow different connotations of work and leisure. Variance emerges.
