DiMo, (Dinâmico e Modular (pt)) Dynamic and Modular, is the study of a modular building from the analysis of the culture of slums and peripheral areas as a dynamic and resistance site.
The ways how the culture expresses its self on peripheral areas and slums are diverse, and the locals where it manifests are very often organic and improvised. The street is an important spot working as a democratic space. The lack of cultural spaces at these places makes that other spots are used, such as sports courts, under overpasses, empty spaces, and even the streets. Through this analyzes of how the culture and physical space at these peripheries and slums relate, it's is clear that the recognition of the value of these areas is very important for the identity of the individual that lives in there, to be assertive and confident in many other situations and different places. So creating spaces where these cultural expressions can take shelter is a way to reinforce this bond between the person and his community. Besides that, it also provides a new traffic flow in the city. Based on published studies that say the cultural activities in these places tend to appropriate sites that weren't made for that, it was possible to develop an association with the houses as constructions that adapted to these neglected spaces. They are often buildings that have a dynamic structure, that evolve and change during the time, according to the residents' needs and limits. Thus, to create a structure that can adapt and evolve like these houses of the community, it was necessary to establish some criteria so that it could work as a collaborative system. As an example, the LEGO toy system. With these concepts defined as the work guidelines, we went for the objective of the project that was to create a space that could shelter and encourage these cultural experiences in these communities where there isn't this kind of place. The design should have a dynamic structure that allows various configurations, which could adapt to the site, the need for different programs, and developments. Thus, the modular project was created so its construction could be possible in places of difficult access, in steep or small sites. The structure should also be of easy and fast assembly, with resistant material to be a fixed or temporary building.
