This projects was made to improve the quality of life of the population living in a precarious area called Cazenga, creating models for social housing and equipment for social use. One of the biggest concerns was to provide an effective response for the difficulties this population have. Keywords: Cazenga; Social habitation; Quality of life
Initial is importante to mention that Cazenga is a historic neighborhood which housed several people due to the war, making it very dense. My project is about a “detailed plan” made for Cazenga neighborhood. Throughout the survey many problems were found but the main challenge was to make the minimum possible demolitions in the neighborhood. Currently in the city of Luanda we find a high percentage of people living in conditions of extreme precariousness. The conditions currently found with the survey and diagnosis of the zone led to the conclusion to make an improvement proposal or the all space.\r\nTo elaborate this detailed plan, an analysis of the main forces and opportunities, weaknesses and threats was made, as well the definition of the main objectives and references of the project focusing in the modus vivendi of the population.\r\nSmall demolitions have been made surgically, allowing the construction of areas that I designate as “small squares” that connects the dwellings in order to reduce the density of the area. Also, the project includes the construction of new low cost social housing using compressed land blocks, a central square where an outdoor library is inserted and finally a very importante space based on the habits of this population that is a market and leisure area.\r\nMajor requalifications for these areas must be rethought , however, due to the high cost of investment and other constraints, the focus should be on housing without extreme demolition and without migration of the population from the neighborhoods where they currently live.
